Bates Motel Set Visit // Aldergrove BC

This afternoon, Steve and I had the chance to visit the Bates Motel set in Aldergrove, BC.  If you're not familiar with the TV show, Bates Motel is a modernized prequel to the Alfred Hitchcock movie, Psycho.  The show focuses on the story of a teenaged Norman Bates (played by Freddie Highmore) and his mom Norma (played by Vera Farmiga) who move to an old house overlooking the motel.  The show follows the back story of Norman Bates through his teenage years.

The Bates Motel set is out in Aldergrove near the US border.  (The show is also filmed in Steveston, Richmond and Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver).  When we first pulled up to the set my eye was instantly drawn to the house... it looked creepy and had a semi-Victorian feel about it.

Looks like they have fixed up and repainted the motel... perhaps it gets re-vamped in the second season (Norma fixed it up?) :)  Looking forward to seeing what Season 2 has in store!

Bates Motel is produced by Universal Television for A&E Network.

  2. Wow those are some fantastic shots... almost make me want to stay there. I wouldn't shower though. :) If you happen to have the original files handy to link they would make for some great October desktop wallpaper!

    1. Thanks William!

I wouldn't shower there either! haha! It was neat to see the set though! If you ever get a chance to be in the Aldergrove area, I would recommend stopping by to see it! The security is pretty good on days when there's no filming going on... but sometimes the house and building are wrapped in plastic tarps to keep it from the weather. :)
