Travis & Laura: Fort Langley Wedding

Travis and Laura's wedding marked the end of my 2012 wedding season.  It was a bit sad that I was shooting my last wedding of the year, (unless someone wants to book me quickly for December 2012!) but also a fabulous wedding to end off on.  Their wedding was filled with so many details, events and loving family & friends and it was a blast to photograph such a lovely day.  Laura and I actually lived a few minutes away from each other and attended the same high school, so it was "extra" special to be able to be a part of her big day as the photographer.  Also, one of my favourite colours is in this wedding... teal!

I started out my day at Laura's house where she and her bridesmaids were getting ready.  Tina of Tina B Fabulous did the ladies' makeup and Nadine Bergsma styled their hair.  I have to give a little shout out to Nadine, because she is amazing! (She worked on the models from our styled shoot back in June!).

The bridesmaids' dresses were made by the mother of the bride, Sue, who also made the ties for the guys!  Laura made earrings and necklaces for each of her bridesmaids as well... let's just say I was impressed with how creative and talented these two ladies are!  They put a lot of work, effort and love into this wedding.

Laura wore an Essence of Australia wedding dress and it suited her perfectly.  I had a sneak peek at the dress during the summer when we met up to chat about her wedding and it is beautiful (and sparkly!).  Laura, you are a gorgeous bride.

After getting ready, we had some time to take a few shots of Laura with her bridesmaids:  Sam, Nicole, Nicki and Jenny.

While I was at the bride's house, Alyssa, my fabulous assistant for the day, headed out to Bear Creek Park (Surrey, BC) to meet up with the Groom, Travis and his groomsmen: Sam, Tyler, Sam and Bill (yes there are 2 Sams!).
Big thanks to Alyssa for shooting solo and getting these great shots of the guys in the gardens at Bear Creek Park.

The wedding ceremony took place at Johnston Heights Church.  The couple was married under a tree that they bought together while they were dating.  Instead of a unity candle or sand ceremony, they had both of their mothers carry their favourite tea blends down the aisle and they blended them together in a "tea ceremony" while signing the registrar.  (Having tea is something that Travis and Laura frequently enjoyed together while dating.)

Straight from the ceremony, everyone was whisked away to Walnut Grove Lutheran Church for an afternoon reception.  There was so many details, decor and even a fun photo wall!  Laura & Travis entered into the reception dancing and even left the same way! (Dancing out with a flash mob).

It was fantastic to see so many family and friends celebrating with the couple, as well as hearing more about both of them from their parents' speeches.

We then come to my favourite parts of the wedding day...photos!
Laura and Travis decided to take their photos later in the day, during the last couple of hours before sunset... which meant we had GORGEOUS light.  I think I literally said the word "gorgeous" a hundred times in those couple of hours.
We took these photos at Derby Reach, a park and campground along the river a few minutes away from Fort Langley, BC.
A huge thank you to everyone in the wedding party for being so energetic and patient for photos after the long day. You were all fantastic to work with.  Travis and Laura are blessed to have you all as friends.

Seriously, this couple didn't need much direction or help with posing... they were naturals at it!

The wedding day wasn't quite finished when we ended off at Derby Reach.  The sun went down and there was another reception!  Their evening reception was held at Laura's Aunt and Uncle's home in Fort Langley.  They graciously opened up their home, cleared out all of the furniture and their place was transformed into a fantastic intimate venue to end of their wedding with close family and friends.

Thank you to Alyssa, from Alyssa Rae Photography for assisting me the entire day!  And thanks to my husband, Steve for taking the wide shots during the ceremony from the balcony and taking photos at Derby Reach as well as carrying our bags & gear! :)
