Help-Portrait 2011

You may have heard me talk about Help-Portrait before... I blogged about it last year and it was my first year participating in Help-Portrait.  There are also some candid photos from Help-Portrait Abbotsford on my blog here!

If this is the first time you've heard about Help-Portrait, I'll give you a bit of a recap!  It was founded by celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart.  Every year in the beginning of December Help-Portrait brings together photographers worldwide to use their photography skills to give back to those in need.  This year, Help-Portrait takes place on December 10, 2011.  Photographers around the globe will be grabbing their cameras and taking photos of families and people who are less fortunate in their local community.

Help-Portrait is all about GIVING the pictures, not taking them.  Any portraits that we take aren't used for portfolios, website or for sale.  This is where we have the opportunity to give a family something they may have never had before - a portrait together.

Last night was one of our last meetings for Help-Portrait Abbotsford, and I'm getting really excited!  This year we have a bigger venue (thanks to Bakerview Church!), more space to work in, more studios, more volunteers and we're hoping we take more photos than last year!  If you live in the Lower Mainland (BC) and are interested in participating this year, we could always use more help and volunteers!  You don't need to be a photographer to help, infact we would love to have more volunteers such as makeup artists, hair stylists and people to assist everyone throughout the day!  Feel free to find out more information on our Help-Portrait Abbotsford's Facebook group!

Giving your time to this movement will help change lives in a positive way!
