Will & Kate // A Royal Wedding!

Congratulations to the royal couple, Will & Kate!
This morning I woke up early and went online to find photos from the royal wedding.  I have been waiting to see what Kate’s dress looks like and I loved it!  It was a beautiful gown, bride, wedding, everything was amazing.  I then fell more in love with her evening gown! (Love the sparkly band).  I didn't end up watching it, because I'm shooting a wedding today so I needed my sleep! :)
I’m wondering, everyone who’s had their eyes glued to the TV all morning, was it everything you thought it would be?  What was your favourite moment?

Kate's evening dress is actually my favourite from the 2!  Maybe because it's more modern, but she's gorgeous in both dresses.

Who stayed up late or woke up super early to watch the royal wedding?  I now wish I had!  But I am photographing today so I wanted to be well rested!

That's right!  I'm a shooting my own royal wedding couple; Jesse and Alayna later today at the Brock House in Jericho Beach!  I was so excited to find out they were featured in the Vancouver Sun this morning as one of the BC couples that share a date with royalty!  Check out the article!

Easter Family Gathering // Personal

I wanted to share some personal photos from our Easter family gathering.  This is my Dad's side of the family and we spent the afternoon at my cousin's house on Good Friday.  It was great catching up with cousins, aunts and uncles.  We enjoyed great meal, visiting and even an Easter Egg Hunt!  There are also a few fish photos, my cousin has this large fish tank with Nemo and more!

Brian & Grace // Queen Elizabeth Park Engagement

It's been an exciting couple of weeks!  Wedding & engagement season has started and I suddenly have a very busy and full schedule!  I've also been featured on a couple wedding blogs lately and wanted to share these with you!

Last week a few photos of Courtney from the Trash the Dress shoot (in Elgin Heritage Park) were featured on The Charity Wedding Blog.  This morning I woke up to find Courtney's photos were once again featured, this time on Bliss!  I'm so surprised at how popular Courtney's photos have become! That another blog has requested to publish the same shoot within the next month!  (I'll keep you posted when and where). I wanted to give a huge thank you again to Courtney for being a wonderful model and braving the windy and snowy weather alongside other models and photographers!

Now for the exciting part... sharing new photos from my latest engagement session!  Saturday I had a great time with Grace & Brian, who are getting married at the end of May at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park.  We met outside the Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth Park, Vancouver.  Thankfully the rain stayed away for the morning and sunshine even crept through the clouds for the last few moments of their engagement session.

Beautiful couple! I love how they brought their running shoes along as props.  They met each other while training for marathons!  They now run marathons together all over North America.  Grace & Brian, I'm so excited and looking forward to shooting your wedding in May!

A new love.. in 1.4 // and some Mocha

Any photographer knows it's an exciting day when you get to purchase some near gear or upgrade to a new lens!  Well, I'm having one of those days!!!

I have a new 50mm 1.4 lens for my Nikon camera!  My husband, being the awesome deal hunter, found it online and we picked it up a couple days ago. I didn't take it off my camera all weekend and the results???  LOVE IT.  I already owned a 50mm 1.8 before and it's great, but I highly recommend anyone who can afford to upgrade to go for it, you won't regret the investment.

Here's some photos of Mocha (our cat) taken with the new lens!

Queen Elizabeth Park // Personal

Earlier this year Steve, my husband purchased his very own DSLR, a Nikon D90.  (He was feeling left out of the photography game!)
Since then, we've been able to go out on "photo adventures" together (yay!) where we head out to a park or location and explore.  Steve has learned how to shoot manual and now has an equal obsession for camera gear and lenses like me, which could turn out bad for our wallets. :)
We spent yesterday at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver.  I have an upcoming engagement session with one of my bride & grooms and thought it would be great to check it out in advance, since the park is so large!

Here's some of our photos, taken by me on the D300s and Steve on the D90.

Shanna // SFU Surrey Campus

Yesterday evening I met up with Shanna (of Shanna Elizabeth Photography) at Central City Mall and wandered around the SFU Surrey Campus.  Shanna has her own photography business, called Shanna Elizabeth Photography... make sure to find her facebook page and like her!  She's an amazing photographer! :)
We took a few photos of each other and tested out different lighting set ups with our speedlights.  Shanna was excited to use her new D700 and I had a new 50mm 1.4 lens to test out!  It was great visiting, chatting and shooting with you, Shanna! :)  You are a beautiful, talented photographer and it was great catching up.
