Lighting for Portraits: Pull Focus Film School

I have one more post to share today from my Photography & Writing course.  (Pull Focus Film School).

We covered night photography yesterday... And shot some portrait photos to learn more about different lighting set-ups.  We only had 2 steady lights, and positioned them a few different ways to get different effects for portrait photos.

Here are a couple of my photos of Patrycja, who was our fabulous model for the evening.

Night Photography: Pull Focus Film School

For those that don't know, I am currently taking a Photography & Writing course at Pull Focus Film School in Vancouver.  Yesterday our class had the opportunity to shoot some night photography.  We walked over to our photography instructor's (Adam Myhill) apartment and were able to get a fabulous view of Vancouver from his roof top deck!

Here are a few of my photos from class last night... I shot on a tripod, with a timer and locked mirrors.

Warkentin & Duncan Family: Tynehead Park

Saturday afternoon was a fun shoot with the Warkentin family and the Duncan family!  I'm excited to share photos from their session in Tynehead Park.  It was great, perfect weather and the kids had a lot of fun running around the park and pathways.  Thankfully the rain held off and only started when we were done and walking back!

Eriksson Family: Tynehead Park

Sunday was a beautiful and sunny afternoon when I met up with the Eriksson family.  We walked over to Tynehead Park from the Eriksson's place and found some gorgeous locations for their photos.  I love when there are fall colours and leaves everywhere... and that's exactly what we got!

Hamm Family: Whistler Everyday Family Session

This next family session took place in Whistler, BC!  The Hamm family spent the weekend in Whistler for Thanksgiving and wanted their family photos done at the Fairmont Hotel where they were staying.  The hotel was gorgeous and nice enough to allow us to take photos inside!  The Hamm family did also brave the freezing cold temperature outside for some great family shots in the garden and on the green!

Thanksgiving in Whistler: Personal

On the Thanksgiving weekend, I had the opportunity to head up to Whistler to take family portraits for a client inside the Fairmont Hotel!  My husband and I decided to stay a bit longer after the family session and enjoy Whistler. We finally went on the Peak 2 Peak gondola, (it snowed while we were up there!), explored Whistler Village and spent a morning walking around Lost Lake.

Here's some of my personal photos from the weekend.  I've put off editing my personal photos a lot, especially this past fall, but all due to having so many wonderful clients! :)

Steve & Cecilia: Perfect Moments Photography

Steve and I had our photos taken beginning of this month with Anita Chapman of Perfect Moments Photography.  Anita was our wedding photographer back in 2007 when we got married!  So what better photographer to use again but her!  You can see some of our wedding photos on her blog here!  We met up with Anita at Ellwood Park in Abbotsford, BC and had a great session with her.  Can't wait to see all the rest of the photos!  Here's just a sneak peek of what I've seen so far!  Make sure to check out Anita's website at perfectmoments.ca.

Thank you Anita for the wonderful photos! :)

Photography & Writing Course: Pull Focus Film School

I am currently taking a Photography and Writing course at Pull Focus Film School and last night was my 2nd class.  I am enjoying it so much! For some reason I love that the class is 3 1/2 hours long for each class... so you get to "absorb" a lot of info in one sitting!

We had a bit of time during class to play around with our cameras, so I decided to post a few.

Lena: Trash the Dress

Lena was such a great sport for her shoot, she brought along lots of props and was willing to do anything... even take photos in the Fort Langley cemetery!  We had fun using her props; teacups, photos and a fishing rod!  Lena, you were amazing and tons of fun!

Katie: Trash the GRAD Dress

This past Saturday I organized a Trash the Dress shoot in Fort Langley, BC.  It was crazy....and fun!  I loved the opportunity to organize a shoot and enjoyed shooting alongside other photographers and getting to work with 7 fantastic models throughout the day.  We had 6 photographers, 7 models and we "took over" Fort Langley.  5 of the models I had a chance to work with individually, so each of them will get their own "Sneak Peek" posts.... This post is all about Katie!  She wore her pink grad dress and looked like a princess!  Gorgeous eyes, gorgeous dress... and she even borrowed someone's dog for a shot when they walked by!
