Help-Portrait 2010

I am excited and looking forward to Help-Portrait, an event coming up on December 4th!  This is the first year I am getting involved with Help-Portrait, and I have the opportunity to join a group of photographers, hair & makeup artists and volunteers in Abbotsford, BC.

What is Help-Portrait?

Help-Portrait was founded by celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart.  It is a collection of photographers around the world, using their time, equipment, and expertise to give back to those who are less fortunate.

The purpose is to GIVE photos to anyone who doesn't usually have access to or is unable to afford professional photography.  (This can be homeless, orphans, single parents with their kids, sick children, sick parents, the elderly, army vets, underprivileged familes and more).

Help-Portrait currently has around 1.700 photographers involved in over 260 different locations, including more than 40 different countries.

None of the photographers or volunteers involved in will be paid or make money off these photographs.  None of the pictures taken will be used on personal websites or portfolios.  Our goal is to simply find people in need, take their picture, and give the picture back.  A way we can give back to the local community.

December 4, 2010, photographers will be grabbing their cameras, finding people in need and taking their picture.  I am excited to join the Abbotsford 2010 group and have a chance to help give a family something they might have never had yet - a portrait together.
